What actually matters here
For jackets the loft test does most of the work: laid flat, a down or down-blend piece should look evenly puffed with no flat dead zones at the baffle corners. Flat means polyester fill — fine as a fashion piece, not fine if you expected warmth.
Zipper pullers and baffle stitching are the other two reads. Unbranded pulls and puckered baffle seams both mark a rushed run, and both show clearly in one flat-lay photo.
